This is my tribute to the late great Chris Cornell. Soundgarden and several other grunge acts truly influenced my musical taste a lot. I was in a heavy Metal act in the late 80's early 90's. The feel of the vocal sound was the higher the note the better the sound. Grunge added something different to vocals that I always appreciated. Especially Chris Cornell. There was something many of the grunge era singers had in common. They were tortured souls. The words to this song reveal someone who must have hated himself. Chris Cornell, Kurt Cobain, and Layne Staley. All form the Seattle grunge scene. All hit the big show around the same time. All brought a new and different feel to music that attracted so many listeners. They were talented, brilliant, scared, depressed, tortured about and by success. Their sounds had such a profound and immediate affect on the music industry and generations of rock and metal fans. But like their creators those sounds didn't live very long. The recordings make their songs immortal. But their feel and groove will not out live them. They have never been copied. Cornell was one of a kind and I hope I do this song the justice it deserves.
