- Almost all the big record labels are part of YouTube's Content ID system, which is an algorithm that recognizes when people either use copyrighted material, or make new versions of copyrighted material, like cover songs.
- When your cover song is recognized by the system, YouTube will automatically split the ad revenue between you and the copyright owner in most cases.
- We recommend you to check to see if there are other cover versions available. You can also check YouTube's Music Policies page to see if they've already listed a copyright policy for the song you want to cover.
- If other people have covers up or the policy is up on YouTube's page, feel free to move forward and upload your cover song. The worst that can happen in most cases is that YouTube blocks it from playing in some countries.
- Do NOT upload it to Facebook. They don't have the same system that YouTube has, so you will get copyright strikes if you upload covers on there that get recognized.
- If you want to choose the most legally appropriate way, you can create your song and then have it officially licensed through a company like CDBaby. For about $15, they'll do all the licensing work for your song (on top of the ~$15 you already pay for any songs you distribute through them). This includes uploading it to recognition systems like Content ID as well as distributing it for sale through Google Play, iTunes, etc.

- Videos that take first 3 places in any chart are rewarded with Bronze, Silver or Gold medals. Chart rank is determined by social metrics (the number of YouTube and Coverium views, likes and comments) and the type of your account (Talent, Pro and Star account videos are ranked higher).
- Coverium features a unique feedback motivation system - every free account member has to watch, rate and comment a few covers of other members in order to post new videos and keep his account active. This will guarantee than any video posted on Coverium will get real views, likes and comments! Premium account members are not required to provide feedback to support their accounts.

- Just follow the steps to create your Coverium account and publish your videos in our charts.
- If you haven't done it yet, you should create an account on Coverium via email or facebook registration. Yes, it is absolutely free (no credit card details required) and takes only a few minutes.
- After registration you'll be forwarded to the settings page where you should click the Link button to connect yout Coverium account to your YouTube channel. Coverium will request the 'manage channel' permission.
- Now you are ready to post your first video on Coverium! Go to the Import Video page and start typing the original Artist's name. If autosuggest doesn't show you a full artist's name this means it is missing in our database and you should first import the artist's profile (step 4). Proceed with typing the song's (composition's) name. If autosuggest doesn't show you the song's name, please import the song information (step 5) first.
- Optional To import an Artist please use the Import -> Artist page. You will need to provide the artist's name and the link to the article about this artist at Wikipedia. Click the Save button.
- Optional To import a Song (composition) for your cover please use the Import -> Song page. First type the song's title and then use search button to find lyrics by google. Copy the lyrics and paste it to the textarea. Click the Save button.
- Make sure you provide correct data for Genre, Performance, Performer, Instrument(s) as it is used to place your music video to the corresponding charts.
- After your video is published on Coverium, we recommend you to use the Facebook / Twiiter / Google+ button to share it with your friends. That will bring your video extra views \ likes \ comments and help to promote in charts associated with your video (cover or original, your continent / country / state, original artist / composition (if cover), musical genre, performance type, performer, etc.)! You can easily check your video rank in charts by using the blue buttons under your video.
Every Coverium member has a chance to post his / her cover right here in our official Facebook group (more than 35,000 followers).
- The cover must be a high-quality video (no slide-shows or poor quality videos are appropriate).
- The cover must be a decent performance (no obscene words or behavior is allowed).
- The cover must be performed by a person / a group of people who have good music skills.
- The cover must be posted on Coverium.
- Your Coverium video link must be shared on your Facebook timeline. It must be public, make sure you haven't made it private or visible only to your friends.
- A note is a unique feature of Coverium that makes our community stronger. It is an internal currency that stimulates free account members to be active and give feedback to other members.
- Free account members need notes to post new videos (-15) and support their Coverium account (-1 per video per day).
- Watch (+1), like or dislike (+2) and comment (+3) on other members' videos to get notes. You can get up to 100 (+1) per day.
- When your notes balance is 0, your account switches to a silent mode. It means your videos are excluded from all charts until you get more notes.
- If you don't have time to share feedback with other members videos, please consider upgrading to Talent, Pro or Star account. Your videos will get higher charts rankings and you will not be required to get notes.
- Every time you post a video on Coverium, you specify the video type (cover or original), original artist's and composition's name (for covers), performance type, music genre, music instrument etc. Make your choices carefully as your answers determine which charts your video will be participating in.
- Use the menu on the left to go to the charts (Genre, Performance, Performers, Instrument, Continent, Country, State).
- For original artists' charts just type the artist's name in the search input on top (for example, The Beatles).
- Every chart's page includes 2 charts: Coverium Stats charts (left) and YouTube Stats charts (right)
- Coverium charts (on the left) are based on coverium stats (views, likes and comments count) and Coverium account type (Pro, Talent and Star account videos are ranked higher than Free account videos). Coverium metrics (views likes and comments count) are not related to corresponding YouTube metrics and are calculated relying on Coverium website activities.
- YouTube charts (on the right) are based on YouTube metrics (views, likes and comments count). YouTube charts is a great opportunity for channels which have thousands of views and likes on YouTube - just publish your video on Coverium and get to the top of YouTube charts at the same time. The number of YouTube views, likes and comments is copied from YouTube at the same moment as you import your video to Coverium. If you have a free account, later you will need to synchronize with YouTube at least once a week using a Synchronize button on your profile's page. This will give you a better and higher rank at YouTube stats charts.
- Every chart has 4 dimensions based on which metric is used - the number of views, likes, comments or influence. Views chart is set by default. Use green buttons to switch charts metric.
- Influence is the most important metric as it defines a video's YouTube stats and Coverium stats charts rank that are visible on video page (blue buttons). It is a sum of 3 metrics: + (2 x ) + (3 x ).
- Videos that win the 1st, 2nd or 3rd places in any of the charts based on Influence metric are rewarded Gold, Silver or Bronze medals.
- Keep in mind that charts rankings are updated automatically every 10 minutes. It means that no matter how high or low your video's rank is, it is not constant and will change.
- Keep in mind that YouTube charts (on the right) are based on YouTube metrics (views, likes and comments' count). YouTube charts is a great opportunity for channels with videos that have a significant number of views, likes and comments on YouTube. Just publish your a video on Coverium and get to the top of YouTube charts at the same time. The number of YouTube views, likes and comments is copied from YouTube at the same moment as you import your video to Coverium. If you have a free account, later you will need synchronize with YouTube at least once a week using a Synchronize button on your profile page. This will give you a better and higher rank at YouTube stats charts.
- Post your video on Coverium only when it already has got a significant number of views and likes on YouTube.
- If your video is already posted on Coverium, promote your YouTube video to increase the number of views, likes and comments. Then Synchronize your Coverium account with YouTube so that updated numbers will be applied to your video's YouTube charts ranking.
- Coverium charts (on the left) are based on coverium stats (views, likes and comments' count) and Coverium account type (Pro, Talent and Star account videos are ranked higher than Free account videos). Coverium metrics (views likes and comments' count) are not related to corresponding YouTube metrics and are calculated relying on Coverium website activities.
- Switch to the Talent, Pro or Star account - that will give your videos priority in all charts + Star account videos are listed at the home page.
- Watch, rate and comment other members' videos. When you do all 3 actions for the same video, your latest video will be featured on that video's page (the right section). Promotion period is not limited!
- Stay online on Coverium - other members will see your profile and some of them will be happy to check out your videos.
- The number of views, likes and comments on Coverium and YouTube are the most important metric and influence your video's popularity.
- Every video published on Coverium keeps information about how many views, likes and comments this video has on YouTube and Coverium.
- YouTube views, likes and comments' count data is taken from YouTube when you publish your video on Coverium.
- Free members can update their videos' YouTube stats by clicking Synchronize button at YouTube tab of their Coverium profile page. Premium account videos are synchronized automatically once a week.
- Coverium likes and comments are not counted on YouTube. Some of Coverium views (longer than 30 seconds) can count at YouTube.
- Free account members can update their videos' YouTube statistics by clicking the Synchronize button at the YouTube tab of the profile page. Premium account videos are synchronized automatically once a day.
- Every time you post a new video on Coverium do not forget to share it in social media (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Google+ etc.) asking your followers to watch / like / comment on your video. This will give you advantage and promote a higher rank for your video in Coverium charts
- Switch to the Talent, Pro or Star account - this will give your videos priority in all charts + Star account videos are listed at the home page.
- Watch, rate and comment other members' videos. When you do all 3 actions for the same video, your latest video is featured on that video's page (the right section). Promotion period is not limited! Your comments also have power, try to impress another member - and you have a great chance to get feedback in return.
- Stay online on Coverium - other members will see your profile and some of them will be happy to check out your videos.
- Please consider upgrading to Talent, Pro or Star account. Your videos will get higher charts rankings and a better exposure (more views, likes and comments).
- You will no longer have to get notes to post new videos.
