Brighton born Eloise Viola is an alternative RnB singer and songwriter, with a blues and soul influenced pop twist. Growing up listening to powerful female artists such as Nina Simone and Janis Joplin influenced Eloise to work hard on developing a rich blend to her unique voice; combining power, rasp and soul, which has been compared with Amy Winehouse and Adele. As a child Eloise was fascinated with Lauryn Hill in the film Sister Act, which inspired a lifelong passion for singing. Eloise was deeply moved by Adele’s album ’21’, and was compelled to teach herself to play to accompany her singing, with the hope to have an effect on people that Adele had inspired in her. The 21 album and Eloise’s piano playing sparked her interest in songwriting, as well as her developing admiration and interest in the music of British songwriters in particular such as Hannah Reid (London Grammar), Emeli Sande, Sam Smith, Ben Howard and Florence Welch. Most recently her music has been inspired by incredibly successful female artists such as Sia and Dua Lipa. After leaving her graduate job and making the decision to dedicate her life to music, Eloise lived in Camden. Performing in Camden and Camden’s unique atmosphere and vibe made a huge impression on her and her music. This marked the beginnings of her music growth and learning how to perform, and the Camden audiences and venues have been vital to her performance as she has expanded to create and lead her band and to gig around all of London. Eloise’s development was greatly supported by Matt Mitchell (Furyon), who first helped her to realise her talent and inspired her to perform. Eloise has also been fortunate enough to be coached by the incomparable Stevie Lange, who has nurtured her vocals to create her memorable and distinct smoky sound. Stevie was the first person to encourage Eloise to take her singing seriously. Eloise has her upcoming singles produced by Brandon Friesen (The Kooks), and is very excited for their release.
