The rap song that started the worldwide phenomenon was released in 1979 by Big Bank Hank (R.I.P.), Wonder Mike and Master Gee with rhyme genius Casanova Fly (nowadays Grandmaster Caz) responsible for the lyrics being uncredited.
My rendition of this Bernard Edwards (R.I.P.) and Nile Rodgers penned funky groundwork was long overdue. So I came up with the 12" short version. The rappin' is performed entirely by rote while simultaneously playin the piano bass and the awkward funky chords. You don't believe it? Come to one of my live gigs.
I was once asked how I managed to learn these crazy lyrics... well, my answer was and is, you cannot learn it you gotta do it.
